Procurement of 6-12 Attack Helicopter Program would be launched under Tenth Malaysian Plan
KLS, Mar 1: The Malaysian Armed Forces has decided to give priority to the procurement of utility helicopter with search and rescue capability under Tenth Malaysian Plan, but the Army¡¯s requirement on attack helicopter is also not sidelined.
The Malaysian Army Chief General Tan Sri Muhammad Ismail Jamaluddin said there are two factors taken in account before procurement decision of attack helicopter being made.
¡°Firstly, Malaysian Armed Forces Command has made one decision in the Joint Chiefs Committee¡¯s meeting where the priority is given to the replacement of Nuri helicopter and those helicopters should have combat search and rescue capability,¡± said General Ismail during a press conference in conjunction with the 77 anniversary of Army Day. Russian Helicopter Manufacture Up 8.3% In 2009
KLS, Mar 1: The Russian helicopter industry continued to increase its output in 2009: Russian Helicopters enterprises produced 183 helicopters for local and international customers, increasing the total by 14 compared to 2008. The 8.3% growth was made possible through a joint effort by all Russian rotorcraft industry specialists.
According to a press statement released by Russian Helicopters, JSC, the deliveries breakdown stayed similar to that of 2008: 105 civil helicopters were delivered by the end of 2009, of which 9 were in VIP configuration with luxury interiors.
The share of export, counting FSUE Rosoboronexport contracts, exceeded 50% of the total 2009 deliveries. More..
